About the Image:
This unique image captures the celebration of
an unprecedented season of Appalachian State University football
just moments after the Mountaineers won their third consecutive
National Championship versus the University of Delaware. The image
is a panoramic collage of 8 photographs that have been stitched
together to form a large panoramic image. Photographed from
nearly the center of the stands in Chattanooga's Finley Stadium, the panorama
clearly shows the emotion displayed from the Appalachian State
faithful in a sea of black and gold. Most ASU fans will be able
to recognize the gun smoke from Yosef's musket in the center of
the frame and the fireworks above the scoreboard.
About the Season:
- Historic 34-32 win over the University of
Michigan in the Big House
- The "Appalachian State Rule" was enacted allowing
FCS teams to receive votes in the AP poll
- Appalachian State ranked as high as 33rd in
the AP poll following the win over Michigan
- Appalachian State wins third consecutive National
Championship, a first in FCS/Division 1-AA history
- Appalachian State head football coach Jerry
Moore wins his third consecutive AFCA National Coach of the Year Award
